Well, since I said I would...here's my initial attempt at doing a "published" write-up of training for a particular race. As I noted last week my goal races are going to be Loretta Lynn's Stage Race and StumpJump 50k. How many times have I run since my last race in Feb? Give or take a dozen. Pretty sad for a "runner" but life's priorities took precedence. Not to say they don't now...just going to be a lot less sleep! So, I'm back at it...fourth week in! Past three weeks...20-25 miles each. I look at some of the miles that the runners that signed up for our RunWILD Training are doing and I realize I better get my butt in gear. I keep telling myself...it's all relative...I'm sure none of them have a full-time job or a kid, right? Long way from the 75+ miles I'll hit a few weeks before Oct 5th. It felt good just to start getting miles in and damn good to get back on the trails this past Saturday with our RunWILD crew. A solid 90 min and felt like I could've gone 90 more. No owl/monkey sightings, though, so I was bummed about that. And my shoes...I've been a true believer of my Inov-8 X-Talon 190's (still am) but I wore the new Pearl Izumi Trail N1's and those babies are legit. Still minimal and light but with more cushion then the 190's. Don't get me wrong - I love to feel the trail but it was nice to have some extra padding. The traction was better than I thought they would have, too. This has gotten long enough so I'll finish it up with...had a great track workout this morning with our RunFAST crew (gotta get some of the 21-year old speed back) before I meet up with our RunWILD crew tonight to do some hill repeats. Two-a-days already? Why the hell not!!

The weekend race recap!! A lot of great showings from the Nashville runners. Locally, the Fatherhood 5k at The Fontanel had a 2nd place showing from NRC Race Team member Leah Sawyer! The race was won by our friend Jeannette Faber (going to World's in Moscow to race the Marathon in August)! Tons of locals went down to Chattanooga to race in Rock/Creek's Stage Race and Nashville represented! Our own NRC Race Team member, Jeff Davis, finished 18th with a big PR. Nashville's Sadie Gollub won the Women's division while Meredith Smith finished 2nd! Sadie's beau Daniel Mueller finished 2nd overall, Olaf Wasternack finished 4th, and there were many other great races from Phil Zimmerman, Ryan Kellow, Jim Fleming, Scott Bell, Andrea Cumpston, James Suh, and many more! Congrats and great racing everyone!
